Last year the hot color was blush...booooring...what a knock out some of the gowns were this year. While some of the ladies were still workin' the tired pink and the blush colors, the night belonged to celebs who weren't afraid of bold color. Mila Kunis rocked a dark green number as did Angelina and Catherine Zeta Jones. I love it when a celebrity breaks the mold and goes with something a little off the beaten path although, in one actress's case, off the beaten path tends to mean completely off one's rocker . I read a variety of sources and I watch quite a bit of cable news. I like to know what's going on outside of my little world even if the reporting isn't always accurate and unbiased.

Something came up on one of the cable news channels the other day that made me shout at the TV and I decided a sternly worded e-mail was in order.

I was fired up as I fired off the e-mail. I could feel the heat from my fingertips start to warm the keyboard. I was incensed! Offended! Outraged! and darn it! Someone was going to hear about it!

Oh, I'm sure they did indeed hear about it when they received that e-mail over at CNN. And I think I could even hear their laughter from here.

Turns out the offending anchor and show I had been watching that fired me up was on MSNBC.

When you see me out, you are more than welcome to address me as Grandpa Simpson.

Lie to Me

US News and World Report tells us age tops the list of the things people lie about the most.

The Top 5:
1. Matt Lauer, who in my humble opinion, sometimes comes off a little too much like a Mexican TV Game Show Host, tells us the next story is about a woman who gave birth to twin girls who, even though they were carried at the same time and born at the same time, have two different fathers. In the tease for the story, Lauer adds, "how did THAT Happen? Stick around and find out next".

With all due respect, Matt, I've taken a few biology classes, ok? I don't need a diagram. But I'll bet the mother's story is pretty interesting ;)

Bloody Outrage

The John Lennon exhibit at the New York Annex of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame opened on May 12th and a few fans, and presumably busybodies who live to be outraged, are none too pleased with one item Yoko Ono has decided to include.

The Annex features exhibits that center on the New York City rock scene over the years so it was only natural that Lennon and his life in the city he loved be included.

The collection was created by Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono. She included items that documented his struggle against deportation like his green card, never before seen letters of support from the likes of Joan Baez, Dick Clark and former New York City Mayor John Lindsay, plus iconic items like his famous NEW YORK CITY t-shirt and the guitar he played when he joined Elton John on stage at Madison Square Garden in 1974, which would be Lennon's final public performance.

The one item Ono included in the exhibit that has some "seeing red" is a bag of clothing. Not just any clothing. They are the still bloody clothes John was wearing the night he was killed on a NYC sidewalk.

Those outraged over this inclusion obviously have neither seen the exhibit nor read too much about it. The clothing is in a paper grocery bag and there is no blood visible. It's the bag the NYC Medical Examiner's office handed Yoko on that awful night.

The bag has been on display previously at Cleveland's Rock Hall. It's not the first time it's been seen by the public.

The animosity toward Yoko is misplaced and unwarranted. Nobody knows better than she what John's life in New York was about. The items she donated to this exhibit tell a story and the bag with the blood stained clothing is an important part of that story. If it outrages you, don't go. Ono meant the display to be moving, honest and provocative. I, for one, have to admire her for that. And let's face it, John loved her immensely and more than likely would have approved of the choices she made in artifacts and personal items of his for this exhibit.
